WHERE TO STAY

There exists a wide choice of comfortable places to stay in the City. For active backpackers and fast-paced business minds, our lodging facilities range from budget accomodations to modern hotels.

Our stay-in hosts offer a variety of in-house services coupled with warm rural hospitality in the midst of GenSan's bustling urban climate. Amenities would include swimming pools, business centers, national and international direct telephone lines, cellular lines, cable TV, Internet and E-mail services. Conference venues also provide facilities which could serve a team of 10 to 1,000 guests.

KAN-ANAN (DINING)

GenSan provides visitors with a cuisine range that is as exciting as our culture.

Food establlishments around town can satisfy our visitors' palate and cravings for Mindanaoan, Filipino, Asian and Western food treats. Our seafood is fresh from the catch and our agricultural products have fitted perfectly well in the sumptuous menu of the City's numerous carenderias and restaurants.

Must-eats should include our local food celebrities. Tuna, for one, comes prepared as "kinilaw" (fresh cuts in vinegar, ginger, shallots, cucumber and ground pepper) and "sinugba" (charcoal broiled in special sauce). The area's asparagus rates high in the world's culinary market and our homegrown Aussie beef is a fast selling commodity. Don't miss the Blue Marlin.

For fruit lovers, our stations showcase a good selection of Southern Mindanao's abundant fruit produce.

ENTERTAINMENT

Fun in Gensan is a blend of eco-cultural exploration and modern day excitement. For nature lovers, a warm dip or drive in some of SOSKSARGEN's crystal clear spring resorts and rich coral reefs are perfect escapes from the busy life.

City based visitors would have fun shopping in the City's shopping malls, centers and souvenir shops; viewing the latest releases in our modern moviehouses; dancing the night away; singing high tunes in videoke and music bars and meeting new friends in cocktail bars and lounges. The list could go on and on.

For nature lovers, a trek to Mt. Matutum would be a great retreat. Mt. Matutum, the area's highest peak towering at 2,293 meters, is a mountaineer's challenge with its continuous 30 to 50 degrees slope inclination. Mt. Parker with a 1,600 meter trek route offers scenic reward of the 256 hectare Lake Maughan (pronounced Mow-han). The lake's shoreline is blanketed by lush forest reserve. Lake Sebu, stronghold of the B'laans and T' bolis, stands as SOSKSARGEN's primary cultural destination and a trip to its seven falls is refreshing experience. Caving could also be scheduled.

Sports facilities are also available. Golf could be arranged in advance with the Dole Phil. Club Kalsangi Golf Course and the Sarangani Golf Club. Two driving ranges in the city serve as a good warm-up site for practice and exercise. Basketball, tennis and other sports could be played in the city's sport courts.

LANDMARKS

There are two existing historical and friendship landmarks in GenSan. For those who want to feel history, a visit to the landing site of General Paulino Santos is recommended. It has since then been converted into a park.

As a token of the City's sisterhood ties with the City of Hadano in Japan, the GSC-Hadano Friendship Park was established to commemorate the friendly relations of the two cities.
